4 Cool and Free android applications which will replace your other gadgets

Here in this article I am going to mention 4 coolest free android applications which will spice up your android mobile phone. Check out the 4 coolest android applications below.

Free Android Applications

Flashlight

Flashlight is a great android application which is available at free of cost for your android mobile phone. You can download this application from the android market at free of cost. When you launch this application your phone camera LED will come on and light your way.

Once you have opened this application keep your finger at the bottom and move from bottom to top and the bulb starts glowing and if you want to turn off the bulb just move your finger from top to bottom.

Important thing to be kept in mind while using this application is that before moving on to your phone’s home screen switch off the bulb. This is because if you don’t turn off your bulb your battery will soon die. This application is most dependable on Motorola phones, but it also works on some other mobile phone as well.

Tape Recorder

There are many recording android applications are available for android but I recommend the free RecForge Lite and its $6 big sibling, RecForge. With the Lite version you can record for less than 3 mins for each recording.

AS a default the sounds that you record will be saved in the format as .mp3 files. If you want you can save the file in the formats like .wav or .ogg file by changing the settings. You can choose to record the sounds in mono or in two- track stereo.

Once you have done your recording you can attach a further recording at the end and you can convert it into another format and if you want you can share it via Gmail, text message or Bluetooth. In Recforge Version you can edit the audio.

TV Remote Control

I wish I could use my android phone into a universal remote. But it doesn’t happen any time soon. The problem behind this is that the phones don’t emit the infrared signals, which are the preferred interface between the device and the remote.

This Wi-Fi remote neatly controls the boxee set top box.  By switching on your Wi-Fi connection on your mobile you can control the device over LAN.

If you have attached your Pc with your TV so that you can see all the movies and also the TV shows Via Boxee account, this program allows your phone to access a remote control.

Remote Keyboard and Mouse

By using your Android phone you control your computer. The open source RemoteDroid makes use of the network and the java to ast to another keyboard and mouse for your computer. Initially you must install the Java SE runtime on your PC and then run the RemoteDroid Server software and also you must turn on your android phone’s Wi-Fi and get it onto the network.

Once you have done those steps, you will find the UI minimal but intuitive: the big rectangle as a touchpad, the 2 small rectangles are the buttons and the keyboard icon brings the keyboard.

Unfortunately RemoteDroid doesn’t support Swype. But still it allows you to control your PC without touching it.

Search Race: Bing and Google go one on one.

“The Microsoft search engine Bing will have their marks on countryside Indiana towns where Google was not able to do” said creator of Bing, Edwin Perello. The admin assistant in San Francisco, Laura Michelson was attracted by Flight fare tracker from Bing. The colorful Background images of the Bing has attracted a photographer from Chicago called Paul Callan.

Lot of Americans prefers Google as their main search engine. Sometimes they move to Microsoft’s Bing for some searches and start to work on it continuously. Callan said that, “I used Google before, but as I started using the Bing more, I liked it more. It is just like muscle memory which takes me to Google”.

Bing holds a small key in the web search field in the US. The web analytics company comScore has released that, “on June, 12.7% of search done with Bing compared to the 62.6% of the Google”. The impact of Bing and the Yahoo has been increasing whereas Google is decreasing slightly and continuously.

Google though will not fall down, as it keeps track of the Microsoft Bing’s updates and using those ideas on their search engines as well. Some Bing updates are travel search engine, image search engine, tools for social networking, etc.

Google has acquired the Bing’s ideas by enabling people to change the background and providing navigation tools on the left pane. The search results also had been narrowed giving exact results rather than possible results in blue colors.

The Caris & Company’s senior Internet and Software analyst Sandeep Aggarwal who follows the activity of Google and Microsoft said, “Cold war has started between them. It is clear that the competition with Bing is making Google to try out and catch up with them.”

The VP of Search Products and User Experience Marissa Mayer has said that, “Google’s updates cannot match with Bing. There was lot of work and time that was involved. The Navigation present on the left was developed for over 2 years. We want to have the thing right on the mark.”

From the introduction of Bing on May 2009, Microsoft’s share on searches has increased from 8 % to 12 % but yahoo has got a larger share in the search field. Yahoo has got a search deal from Microsoft.

Google, Microsoft Focused on Indian Languages.

If you enter into the Google Office in Gurgaon you will be drawn by the smell of the fresh ground coffee.

Jagjit Chawla, the product manager of Google India quips “We are getting ready to benefit for the subsequent big thing—the Indic Web.”

Chawla says that “Only 7 percent of the Indian People knows English and only 7 percent utilizing the internet. There are only few local languages contents available. The next wave of the Internet users will be from the Indic web.”

Google Microsoft focused on Indian Languages

So big opportunities are available in the sphere of local languages, roughly all the infotech companies worth their name have jumped the bandwagon. When just before two weeks, India announced the new symbol for the Indian rupee, it wasn’t just an forceful declaration about the Indian economy arrived on the world stage, it was as well seen as the symbol of the up coming age of the Indian language scripts in a contemporary avatar.

The traditional Indian writing – Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Gujarati or Tamil is already making its existence felt on the globular scale. Today Indian typefaces are making the appearance even on a high technology platforms for example software OS.

The Microsoft Company is undergoing loads of researches on the Indian language products. Project Bhasha, for example, is the key landmark in Microsoft’s effort to excite the local language computing and take IT to the heaps, driven by the fact that 95 percent of the Indians are using their local languages rather than the English language in their work and personal life.

“We support Inscript keyboard which is the India’s national standard for the Indian languages inputs. This means that the app can be written in the regional languages. As a tech company, we work with the local partners who are proficiency in languages,” said by the Meghashyam Karnam, product manager, Microsoft India.

A Long back ago in 1996, Microsoft had begun work on the fonts of the Indian system in Windows for a new OS. Many fonts were developed in many Indian scripts like Punjabi, Kannada, Hindi, Tamil first with the OS Windows 2000 and later in the OS win XP.

It is no shocker the Microsoft, software giant saw an opening in the Indian language market even many years ago and started off with the localisation of the OS Win 2000 and 2 Indian languages – Tamil and Hindi. And now Microsoft supports twelve Indian languages: Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Telugu, Assamese, Gujarati, Konkani, Oriya, Bengali, Kannada, Telugu and Punjabi.

Today, in India the web are not relevant to the majority of the users as there is lack of regional content. On the net there billions of pages but only 40 million Indian language pages are the there on the net.  Now you can type in English and you can get in Indic text. This was local need stimulated software. It began with Hindi and the Research and Development for this happened in Bangalore.
