Motorola Likely to Sell Network Equipments to NSN?

The source noted that, Motorola will continue to have its walkie talkie type of communication branch, iDen technology. Motorola did not have any success with its mobile phones and so split itself into 2 units: one managing the set top boxes and the handsets while the other managing the network devices and enterprise business.

NSN was trying to buy the (full) Motorola, but at that time the company was split. Earlier, NSN tried to buy Nortel Networks Corp’s 2 units (maker of Canadian telecoms equip maker) but was trumped by Ciena Corp and LM Ericsson, both times.

During the start of the month, an analyst queried NSN for trying to buy a (Motorola) GSM company’s network equipments, rather than the LTE standard equipments and Nortel’s CDMA equipments that NSN tried to buy before. CDMA was only available in the North America and some regions of Asia but GSM was used globally and the network connections are available world wide in many countries. Wall Street Journal reports said that, Motorola did not want to comment on this news. The source cannot be revealed as the news is still not yet announced.
