Dell will provide replacement for Virus Infected Servers

Dell has agreed to give replacement devices of servers for its users who bought those servers having virus which tries to get personal data. Dell has announced that it was not conscious about the rare case of virus infected servers and is trying to replace these contaminated servers as soon as possible.

A spokesperson from Dell told that, he can not say how the (W32)SpyBot worm virus affected the motherboards, which were only replacement parts and were not transported along with new machines. This case highlights the increasing threat from the hackers. Though professional PC users are cautious of documents downloaded from the Web, some think that the computer hardware is also susceptible.

Dell replaces infected Servers

Dell has got 4 server models called as Power Edge R310, R410, T410 and R510. On its website, Dell has announced that, only less than 1 % of its 4 server models may get affected. It also stated that, if the customers are having their anti virus software updated, they can be secured from the virus attacks. The Virus attacks on Servers will be more dangerous than that of the Personal Computers.

Symantec Corp’s Research Director for Computer Security Software Developer Dean Turner said that, “The W32 Spybot virus was found in the year 2003, which was made to give connection to remote hackers who can now control the target system to make it perform several actions”. He added that, “This virus can perform variety of functions based on the instructions that it get, but was mainly created for stealing sensitive data.”
